Protest Against the Killing of Insects for Jewellery

It has come to our attention that The Bug Store is selling jewellery featuring real insects, who have been purpose-bred and killed.

The company’s website states:

All the bugs used in the BUG STORE are sourced from special commercial farms and all specimens are sustainable and humanely & painlessly dispatched so that every minute detail and beauty of the creatures can be seen. No specimens are ever removed from their natural habitat.
No endangered species are ever used.

All animals have the right to live their lives as naturally as possible, free from pain and exploitation. Killing insects just so they can be made into jewellery is a disgraceful and cruel way to treat them.

Please write to the company politely expressing your concerns, and if you see any shops selling these items, please write to the owners to complain. Similarly, if you see these trinkets on sale via street stalls, please write to the local council to object.
