Please help Tania the elephant

Tania was captured in the wild in 1978, when she was 3 years old. She has been kept at zoos in France, Spain and Italy, before finally being moved to Romania’s Tirgu Mures Zoo, where she lives alone. Because of the cold weather in Romania, Tania spends a lot of time inside in a small enclosure with concrete floors. Tania has degenerative joint disease and standing on concrete makes the condition worse. She also is exhibiting signs of psychological distress – standing for many hours in one place, rocking and swaying.

Please sign this petition calling on the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria to move Tania to an elephant sanctuary where she can live with other elephants Find out more on the Free Tania campaign page on Facebook
