Save animals from 1080 poison

In New Zealand's forests, tens of thousands of animals are dying. They are deliberately poisoned by helicopter drops of lethal 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison baits.

The New Zealand government says the drops are necessary to protect native wildlife from invasive species but poison drops indiscriminately kill any living creature who chances upon them.

Animals killed include: wild deer; endangered parrots (kea); many other species of birds (including morepork owls, flightless weka, kaka, falcons); bees; wild pigs; goats; rabbits; tahr; wallabies; domesticated dogs and cats; sheep and cows; and horses.
