Shooting petition

Pheasant rearing and shooting is a multi-million-pound business in Britain that subjects more than 40 million pheasants and partridges annually to the rigours of intensive farming, and kills a large number of wild birds and mammals in 'predator control' programmes.

The artificially reared pheasants are subject to painful mutilations and are administered a variety of pharmaceuticals in an attempt to combat the stress and disease that inevitably result from such conditions. As the shooting press itself has acknowledged, millions of birds are shot purely for sport rather than for the dinner table. Some are buried in specially-dug holes or left to rot where they fall.

Please support Animal Aid’s call for a ban on the production of birds for ‘sport’ shooting to be introduced into Britain.
