- 1 x 220 pkt smoked tofu (Cauldron)
- 750g mashed potatoes - cooked in 2 veggie Oxo Cubes
- 2 tsp capers
- Fresh ground black pepper
- Vegetable oil
Heat oven 200°C/400°F/gas 6
Mash potatoes without using any liquid so dryish mix. Mash smoked tofu, add capers and black pepper and mix in mashed potato. Make into 6 large or 8 small cakes or patties. Oil baking sheet and turn fishless cakes in the oil and bake in oven for 20 mins. Leave out capers if too strong flavour for children.
To make a more adventurous fishless cake add the white sauce and cheezly mix from the previous Fish-e-less Pie recipe to this potato and smoked tofu recipe. Make small cakes/patties - they will spread while cooking and be thinner than the regular fishless cakes. Cook in oven as above for 20 minutes.
Both types of fishless cakes can be served hot or cold.
