EDM 136 WELFARE OF ANIMALS
23.11.04 (17 signatures)
"That this House believes that all animals should be treated as sentient beings and is concerned that unacceptable practices where animals are treated as objects still continue; further believes that all animals, at whatever stage of evolution, deserve protection and recognition; welcomes New Zealand's decision to introduce a bill to grant apes certain basic rights; and calls upon the Government to improve the welfare and status of all animals in the United Kingdom."
