GIANT RABBITS AND MAD SCIENTISTS LAY SIEGE TO UNILEVER HQ
Posted 1 August 1997
Youngsters dressed as laboratory rabbits and mad scientists will be in London on Wednesday 27 August 1997 to draw attention to the plight of the thousands of animals used in cruel and unnecessary experiments every year.
Their protests are part of the Animal Aid Youth Group's Day of Action against Animal Testing.
- At 12.00 on 27th August Youth Group members will present a petition to the Home Office - signed by 30,000 people - calling on the Government to take action to stop the use of animals in product testing.
- At 1.00 pm they will picket the Unilever head office in Blackfriars and present a formal request that Unilever stops animal tests and meantime that the company provides more information to the public on its use of animals (details presently shrouded in secrecy).
- Between 2.30 and 3.30 pm demonstrators will hand out leaflets to members of the public in Covent Garden calling for a boycott of Unilever products. A Unilever product dump will also take place.
