Stop Vivisection: Signatures urgently needed

Posted 15 October 2013

Time is running out for the Stop Vivisection petition and more signatures are urgently needed. If the petition collects one million signatures by 1 November, and has been signed by a minimum number of people in at least seven EU countries, there will be the opportunity to call for a new European directive that would end experiments on animals in the EU. The big push is on across the EU to ensure we pass the magic 1 million figure – we're getting close. The total today (15 October) is 877,000. Every vote counts, please sign online today.

Stop Vivisection is a European citizens’ initiative. One million signatures will give the organisers the opportunity to take part in the legislative decision-making process. They will be able to discuss the need to end vivisection with representatives from the European Commission and present the initiative during a hearing at the European Parliament. The Commission will then be required to adopt a formal response.

This is a vital opportunity to gain serious political consideration for the need to ban vivisection, but time is limited – so if you haven’t already done so, please sign and share as widely as possible.
