It was announced today (17th Oct) that Jamie Oliver plans to expose the cruelties of intensive pig production, and compare Britain’s supposed ‘higher welfare’ farms with those overseas.

Animal Aid welcomes the spotlight being shone on this world of terrible suffering but would never describe British farms as high welfare. Our own recent investigation of ten English pig farms showed that pigs suffer terribly – even on those farms run by leading figures in the pig industry or who are serving on the government’s Farm Animal Welfare Council.

While we applaud Jamie Oliver‘s plans to expose the truth to a wide audience, there is only one way to truly help pigs: stop eating them.
