Animal Aid's Christmas Fayre 2009
Posted 20 November 2009
Come and join in the fun at Animal Aid’s 17th Annual Christmas Fayre at Kensington Town Hall, on Sunday 6th December, from 10am until 5pm.
Speakers include Dr Dan Lyons from Uncaged, wildlife protection campaigner John Bryant, Dr Jarrod Bailey from Project R&R and Animal Aid's Ann Harriman and Dene Stansall.
There will be more than 85 stands – all promoting charities, campaign groups and ethical traders who are trying to make a real difference in the world. Have a wonderful shopping spree safe in the knowledge that no products have been tested on animals or include any animal ingredients. Help animals, the environment, and reduce your carbon footprint, by purchasing goods which have made the least impact on our planet in their production. Goods on sale include chocolates, cruelty-free toiletries and cosmetics, non-leather boots and shoes, recycled and fair-trade goods, environmentally-friendly clothing, plus seasonal gifts and cards.
Shambhu's will be serving hot meals, snacks and treats, plus fair trade organic teas & coffees, and organic cold drinks. Or try The Indian Kitchen’s feast with a Mediterranean flavour. Veggies Catering will be serving vegan homemade cakes, hot snacks, drinks, teas and coffees.
In addition to the wonderful vegan food, enjoy lectures, videos, a live auction of celebrity items, and even the kids are catered for with face-painting, a children’s workshop and creche. The ever-popular Press-ups Competition is back, so do take part.
This year, at the celebrity live auction, Green Party representative and professional auctioneer, Noel Lynch, will bring his own unique style to the auction, kicking off the proceedings at 2.30pm in the downstairs foyer.
Items up for auction this year include:
- Signed photo of Joanna Lumley as Patsy in Absolutely Fabulous
- Fake leather studded dog jacket from Pete Townshend from The Who. The jacket was designed for one of his dogs and has The Who emblem on the back.
- Signed photo of Manic Street Preachers plus rare signed CD
- Signed Arsenal pennant and photo of the Arsenal FC first team, including certificate of authentication
- Shirt worn by actress Helen Worth, who plays Gail Platt on Coronation Street. She wore this shirt in a scene in Corrie. Includes certificate of authentication
- Signed photo of Steven Gerrard
There are many more items up for auction including signed photos and vouchers from ethical food, clothing and wine companies. Don’t forget – 2.30pm in the downstairs foyer!
Imaner Consultants, who design and maintain Animal Aid's own on-line shop, will be holding a Web Clinic at the Fayre and will be offering free consultations on web design and development.
