Animal Aid's Sponsored London to Paris Cycle Ride
Posted 16 September 2008
We made it! After four and a half days, we finally completed our epic trek and entered Paris on Friday 12 September. The first day, from London to Newhaven went smoothly. However, due to a last minute cancellation by the ferry company we crossed the Channel later than planned and didn’t arrive in Dieppe until 3am the following day. Undeterred, we set off into the countryside despite the dark and cold. When the sun came up things started to improve and we made good progress fueled by vegan pasta and energy bars!
After three days cycling (against the wind I might add) we finally entered the outskirts of Paris very tired and sore! This is where things started to get interesting. Cycling in Paris is completely different to cycling in rural France. It is not ‘bike friendly’. What with navigation problems and heavy city traffic we were very relieved to arrive at the Eiffel tower safe and sound! Now we’re back we’d both like to say a big thank you to all the people who sponsored us and made it all worthwhile.
