Animal Aid sponsored walk
Posted 1 June 2004
Our first ever sponsored walk was a huge success! The lovely Wendy Turner Webster cut the ribbon and sent around 70 Animal Aid supporters on their way at 1pm.
Ermintrude and her 70 friends, all wearing yellow Animal Aid sashes, walked 10km in soaring temperatures and attracted lots of attention!
The climb up Parliament Hill was particularly exhausting but the view was worth the effort!
In between laps, Veggies Catering served up a vegan buffet with plenty of refreshments, and, with a jazz band playing on the bandstand nearby, it made for a pleasant day in the park.
Children surrounded Eileen Kinghorn for most of the day, all eagerly waiting for their faces to be painted.
Walk for the animals
Once all the walkers had finished, they all received an exclusive "I walked for Animal Aid" T-shirt and a glass of Bucks Fizz, and there were lollies for the children. Goody bags donated by Soya Fresh were handed out too.
I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone that came to Hampstead Heath on Sunday and made the day fun and enjoyable.
Also, thank you to Wendy for her wonderful speech and for being supportive of Animal Aid's important work.
I would also like to thank everyone that has sent in money to sponsor Ermintrude. She is now extremely exhausted and is having a well-deserved rest!
Thank you to our sponsors
Many organisations and individuals donated their wares or services to the walk and I would like to say a big thank you to them. They are:
- Vegetarian Shoes
- Veggies Catering
- Eileen Kinghorn
- T-Shirt and Sons
- Steve Hutton
- Kilnwood Graphics
- Vinceremos
- Veganstore
- Soya Fresh
Also, thank you to Hampstead Heath for letting us hold the walk in their beautiful park.
Certificates all round
In order to ensure that the event is a financial success, I am very keen to receive sponsorship money that hasn't already been sent in. If you have not done so, please could you send it in to me as soon as you can. Once I receive your sponsorship money I will send you a special certificate of completion.
The next Animal Aid sponsored walk will be Sunday 12th June 2005. I look forward to seeing you there!
