Memorial Day for Jill Phipps: Live Export Protest

Posted 29 January 2007

This Saturday (3rd February) there will be a march and rally at Dover docks in memory of campaigner Jill Phipps. Jill was killed in 1995, crushed beneath the wheels of a lorry carrying calves for export to Continental veal crates.

The march will start at 12 noon at the seafront shelter (just along from the Eastern Docks) and will end at Jubilee Way where flowers and tributes to Jill and the animals will be laid.

Thousands of calves, cows, sheep and pigs continue to be sent overseas from Dover docks, destined for countries as far away as Russia and Italy. Despite overwhelming public support for a ban on the live export trade, the government has not acted. Please attend this important demonstration to honour a brave champion for the animals and to support the campaign to end this appalling trade.
