In May, Animal Aid patron, Chris Packham, launched our Killing Our Countryside campaign, which is taking on the cruel and damaging shooting industry. Since our London launch event, we have been delighted by the response from supporters and activists, who have helped spread the message about the new campaign.
Our anti-shooting petition has grown to nearly 15,000 signatures β in part due to our week of action in September, where so many of you took to the streets to hand out leaflets and gather signatures for the petition β and continues to grow by the day.
Animal Aid staff also received overwhelmingly positive support for our event in Winchester in October, which featured our adorable giant pheasant, Phineas. Many passers-by stopped to talk to us and sign our petition and we even garnered local press for the event.

The campaign has also been greatly bolstered by targeted mobile ads, reaching thousands of compassionate people across the nation.

Now, we begin the political phase of our campaign. We are calling on MPs to support our call for a total ban on the breeding, release and killing of pheasants and partridges for the shooting industry. In addition to the suffering of pheasants and partridges, releasing millions of birds has terrible consequences for wildlife and the environment.
We urgently need your help with writing to your MP, bringing much-needed attention to how this cruel industry is killing our countryside.
