Taking the case to End Greyhound Racing straight to No. 10

With the backing of tens of thousands of supporters, we handed our petition calling for an end to greyhound racing directly to No. 10 Downing Street.

On Monday 13 April, Animal Aid took a major step forward in the campaign to end greyhound racing for good.

With the backing of tens of thousands of supporters, we handed our petition calling for an end to greyhound racing directly to No. 10 Downing Street.

This was a powerful moment – and it was only possible because of you. By signing, sharing and speaking out, you helped ensure that the cruel reality of greyhound racing was placed directly on the Prime Minister’s desk. The case for change is now firmly in the hands of Government.

A clear message from supporters

Our petition set out the overwhelming public concern about the cruelty inherent in greyhound racing – from overbreeding and confinement, to serious injuries, drugging and death, all driven by the demands of a relentless gambling industry.

The hand‑in created a clear public and media moment, showing that the call to end greyhound racing is no longer marginal – it is mainstream, evidence‑led, and demanded by people across the country.

Strengthening the case in Parliament

Later the same day, we took the campaign directly into Parliament by attending the official launch of a new report by our coalition partners, GREY2K USA Worldwide and The League Against Cruel Sports. Hosted by Neil Duncan‑Jordan MP, the parliamentary reception marked the publication of: Reaching the Finish Line: Time to End Dog Racing in the UK.

GREY2K USA Worldwide and The League Against Cruel Sports will be founding members of our new coalition group, Greyhound Freedom UK. The group also includes Gamban & Shut Down Campaigns.

What happens next?

The petition hand‑in and the report launch mark an important moment – but they are not the end.

We will continue pushing decision‑makers to act, keeping greyhound racing firmly on the political agenda, and standing up for the gentle dogs who cannot speak for themselves.
