UPDATE: Response from Defra to Snares Joint Letter

Rebecca Pow (Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) has responded to our joint letter to Prime Minister Boris Johnson and George Eustice (Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs)

We recently received a response to our joint letter, signed by groups including Cats Protections, Dogs Trust and the Hunt Investigation Team.

The response from the government was disappointing, as they stated that the Government has no current plans to ban the use of all animal snares. The letter did however acknowledge the suffering caused by snares and confirm that the government will be launching a ‘call for evidence’ in the near future.

A call for evidence is an information gathering process, so we will be submitting as much evidence of the suffering caused by snares as we can. If you have heard of a recent incident involving snares, please contact SnareWatch to report this.
