Footage of toxicity testing hasn’t been captured in the UK for over a decade. That all changes now.
For the first time in over a decade, the use of rabbits, rats, dogs, pigs and primates being used in regulatory toxicity testing has been captured on film. The footage was filmed by workers in the UK as recently as 2025.
We received the footage from Animals International and immediately dropped everything to help expose the suffering it shows. The footage is unprecedented, typically taking place behind closed doors, deliberately inaccessible to most.

Animal Aid are accustomed to wading through scientific data and technical summaries, but nothing could have prepared us for this. The distress of each and every animal is indescribable and reveals industrial-scale torture dressed up as science.
Each year in the UK, millions of animals are harmed in UK laboratories and an unknown number of them are forced to endure the kinds of tests shown in this new footage. This includes the testing of industrial chemicals, pesticides, and pharmaceutical drugs, including ‘every day’ medications sold to the public.
Shockingly, this cruelty is totally legal. In fact, it is licensed and regulated by the Home Office – despite growing evidence that using animals does not reliably predict how substances will affect humans.
