Sunday's South West Christmas Without Cruelty Festival was a huge, upbeat success. Organised by Animal Aid and staged at the Corn Exchange in Exeter, our special crowd-pulling guest was Benjamin Zephaniah, the nation’s favourite performance poet and long-standing animal advocate. Benjamin read and acted out his poems, signed books and even posters until everyone was satisfied. He was an enormous hit with both the children and adult visitors.
The Festival offered a great opportunity to buy unique gifts and seasonal cards that didn’t cost the earth. Products on sale will included most items in the Animal Aid cruelty-free catalogue, plus fairtrade clothes and jewellery, cosmetics and skin care products, handmade chocolates, games for children, wildlife photographs and Devon grown olive trees. There was also vegan restaurant, live music and face painting for youngsters.
