In a few days – 1 October – the pheasant shooting season will commence.
Every year, around 50 million pheasants and partridges are purpose-bred for the shooting industry. Animal Aid continues to call for a ban on the production of birds for ‘sport’ shooting. But as an important interim measure, we are campaigning for an end to the battery cages in which thousands of ‘game’ birds used for egg production are incarcerated.
There is huge public support for such a ban – a June 2018 YouGov poll of over 2000 people across Great Britain on behalf of Animal Aid and the League Against Cruel Sports, revealed that 80 per cent oppose the use of cages to confine breeding birds (only 11% disagreed).
Please do what you can to help spread the word about the plight of these poor birds by ordering leaflets and sharing our film.
