Powerful new anti-badger cull network launched

Posted on the 9th May 2016

Ignoring scientific evidence and public outrage, the government is set to continue culling badgers in nine English counties: Cheshire, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Somerset, Worcestershire and Wiltshire.

The cull will involve the slaughter of thousands of badgers, in the dead of night, by marksmen with rifles. The declared aim is to stop the spread of Bovine Tuberculosis (bTB).

Today marks the launch of the Badger Action Network, whose website serves as a hub for action against the cull. The site offers background information and resources for use by cull opponents. There are already a number of dedicated groups in ‘cull-zone’ counties that have been established to help fight the badger slaughter. These groups will be holding public meetings, sett monitoring and training days for ‘newbies’.

For more information on local groups and events in your area, go to the Badger Action Network website.
