Vegan Christmas sandwich review 2020

Posted on the 1st December 2020

One of the most exciting parts of the festive season is trying all of the new vegan sandwiches that are released. We’ve sampled a couple of them!

Boots – Vegan No Turkey Feast

This sandwich contains nice chunky lumps of vegan turkey, which are nicely seasoned. The sage stuffing really makes it taste festive and certainly adds to the Christmassy taste. The sandwich can also be purchased as part of the Boots Meal Deal, which makes it a great price and overall very substantial.

Caffè Nero – Vegan Festive Feast Panini

It’s great to have hot vegan options this year. The Caffè Nero toastie is very flavoursome, featuring vegan turkey with apricot stuffing. The chunks of vegan turkey have a great texture and are well-seasoned. The stuffing takes the toastie to another level with the sweetness of the apricots complimenting the sandwich overall; it is essentially a Christmas dinner in a sandwich. Even the ciabatta bread is amazing; nice and crispy on the outside with an amazing soft inside.

Co-op – GRO Plant-Based Turkey Feast

Vegan turkey alternatives seem to be big this year. The Co-op GRO sandwich tastes like a Christmas dinner in a sandwich. It has a great combination of Christmassy flavours which all compliment each other really well. It is also pretty reasonably priced, especially when purchased as part of the meal deal.

Costa Coffee – Turkee, Cranberry & Stuffing Bloomer Toastie

Another hot option! The stuffing is absolutely amazing, with a delicious sage and onion flavour. Whilst the vegan Turkee pieces don’t have much of a meaty texture (which some may be glad about), it is great to have a vegan sandwich with a good protein source in it. The sweet cranberry sauce compliments the sandwich very well.

Pret – Vegan Christmas Nut Roast

Pret has always had a pretty good selection of vegan sandwiches. This Christmas they have the Vegan Christmas Nut Roast sandwich which also features butternut squash. The sage mayo really add a nice creamy flavour to it. This sandwich is perfect for those who don’t like meaty textures of vegan meat alternatives. In addition, 50p of each sale goes to homeless charity Shelter.

There are, of course, many more vegan Christmas sandwiches on the high street. This is just a small selection. Which one is your favourite?
