Three slaughtermen and one former company director have pleaded guilty to animal cruelty offences.
The long-running Bowood slaughterhouse case is finally moving towards a conclusion. Today, three slaughtermen and one former company director pleaded guilty to offences relating to causing unnecessary suffering to animals. This means that four out of the five defendants pleaded guilty during the trial today at Northallerton Magistrates Court. The charge against the fifth defendant was dropped.
The case follows undercover filming by Animal Aid at Bowood Yorkshire Lamb slaughterhouse in Thirsk, North Yorkshire. The filming took place in late 2014 and revealed many incidents of shocking animal cruelty. The case has now been adjourned until March 2, when the defendants will be sentenced at Leeds Magistrates Court.
Sadly, this is just one of the many slaughterhouses where Animal Aid has filmed shocking animal cruelty. The best thing you can do to help animals is to drop animal products and go vegan.
