Our brand-new campaign âKilling our Countryside: Itâs time to ban shootingâ, which calls for a total ban on the production and âsportâ shooting of live birds for entertainment, has been launched by Animal Aid patron, Chris Packham.
The cornerstone of Killing our Countryside is a detailed report that examines not only the horrific cruelty of so-called âgame birdâ shooting, but also the devasting impact it has on our environment.
Every year, around 40-60 million non-native pheasants and partridges are released into the British countryside, trampling native plants and outcompeting wildlife for food. Toxic lead from gunshot pollutes the land and waterways, poisoning animals â all this devastation for the fleeting entertainment of a few wealthy gunowners.
Our new campaign builds on existing opposition to the shooting industry by bringing together the support of naturalists, animal lovers and those who are passionate about the environment. We need your help at every stage.
First, please order a FREE information pack, which contains a copy of the new report, leaflets and a concise briefing sheet.
You can also raise awareness of the plight of pheasants and partridges, by buying one of our beautiful new t-shirts or tote bag, featuring artwork by the talented Nick Hayes.
Make sure youâre following us on social media: so many people are unaware of the shooting industryâs impact on the environment so we need your help to raise awareness.
You can also download a copy of the new report, leaflet and briefing sheet.
