Vegan Festival of Britain countdown

Posted on the 17th May 2017

We are now only days away from the launch of our three-week Vegan Festival of Britain at VegfestUK Bristol on Saturday 20 May. Kerry McCarthy, the first vegan MP in the House of Commons, will get the Festival underway at 12.45pm, making the first cut of a giant cake – lovingly baked by Veggies and sponsored by Natural Balance Foods. The cake will then be distributed amongst the Bristol public to show them just how delicious vegan food is!

Several other events up and down the country will be taking place on the same weekend and right through to June 10.  You can keep up to date with everything that is happening on the Vegan Festival of Britain website with all the events listed (unsurprisingly!) under the Events section. These include special restaurant evenings, cookery demonstrations, an art exhibition, fairs, market stalls and open days. Hopefully, there is something for everyone.

The Vegan Festival of Britain is an ambitious nationwide project that has been organised by Animal Aid to mark its 40th anniversary and to celebrate the phenomenal rise of interest in plant-based foods. The grand finale will take place at Exeter Castle on Saturday 10 June. Compassion @ the Castle will offer a vegan twist on a traditional summer fair with a market followed by vegan cream teas and an early evening barbecue, with music and a bar. The latter will feature a specially brewed Vegan Festival of Britain real ale created by Pitfield brewery. Find out more on the Facebook event page.
